Scott Achterling, Operations Manager

Scott is primarily responsible for CIF's Operations including administration of the IRA program, transaction processing and loan origination systems, and oversight of the operations staff.
Scott joined CIF in September of 2007. Prior to joining us, he was Vice President-Retail Banking for Community National Bank from 2006 to 2007. He has also worked for two large national banks holding various positions in market management and business development. Mr. Achterling earned his management degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Paul Anderson, President

As President of CIF, Paul is involved in all aspects of the ministry, whether directly or indirectly. Paul shares responsibility with other staff in attending many of the EFCA district conferences and enjoys having the opportunities to spend time with the various churches and ministries that CIF has the privilege to serve.
Paul was elected President of Christian Investors Foundation in February 2003. Prior to joining CIF, Mr. Anderson was a Senior Manager for three years at Capin Crouse LLP, a CPA firm. Prior to joining Capin Crouse, he was the Director of Trust Operations for the Orchard Foundation in 1999, Chief Financial Officer for Far East Broadcasting Company from 1993 to 1999, and worked for Price Waterhouse from 1991 to 1993. Mr. Anderson earned his Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University.
Kari Boyce, Vice President – Investments & Administration
Kari is responsible for the marketing of CIF and MCS as well as working closely with Operations to improve our processes and procedures ensuring we are efficient and maintain our focus on serving our customers with excellence whether they are individuals, churches or other EFCA ministries.
Kari joined CIF as Sr. Relationship Manager in 2006 and in 2007 took the role of VP – Investments & Business Process. Prior to joining us, she was with Piper Jaffray’s Fixed Income Division where she held various positions over her 9 years of employment including Managing Director of Sales Administration. She has also been employed by Shearson Lehman Brothers and Dain Bosworth, working in Fixed Income Securities sales. Ms. Boyce earned her BA in Business Administration and French from Bethel College (now Bethel University).
Barry Case, Vice President and Secretary Treasurer
Barry is responsible for managing CIF's financial accounting and reporting, preparing budgets and cash flow forecasts, and working on various other aspects of financial management. He also assists with operational and technological matters.
Barry joined CIF in June 1996. Mr. Case has 13 years of prior experience in the banking industry, and is a certified public accountant. Prior to his employment with us, he was an Assistant Treasurer at the Winona Office of Home Federal Savings Bank of Rochester, Minnesota. Mr. Case earned his accounting degree from Winona State University.
Dawne Eveland, Customer Service Representative
Dawne is a member of CIF's customer service team. She is primarily responsible for providing customer service to CIF investors while maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of client information. That involves building relationships with clients by phone and written correspondence, servicing and maintaining the Investment Certificate, ACH and Wire transfers, Online Services, and general office duties.
Dawne has been a part of the CIF staff since 1997 and prior to that she worked at Next Step Resources as the Operations Manager.
Sonja Hettinga, Customer Service Representative

Sonja is a member of CIF's customer service team. She is primarily responsible for serving investor and loan clients with excellence; including opening investment certificates, processing transactions and answering client inquiries. Sonja also provides support and direction on various ongoing projects.
Sonja joined CIF in December of 2009. She came to us with five years experience in the banking industry holding various roles such as Banker, Branch Manager and Business Training Consultant. Ms. Hettinga earned her degree in Communications and Business Law from Metropolitan State University and has done some graduate work at Bethel University in Organizational Leadership.
Steve Johnson, Director of Ministry Campaign Services

Steve's expertise includes capital campaigns, vision building and strategic planning. He has a personal vision for creating an environment in which ministries can excel. Steve uses his gifts and talents to help churches create such an environment by focusing on 1) vision building and strategic planning and 2) fund raising to provide needed financial resources for ministries.
Joining Ministry Campaign Services in 1997 and serving as its first director, Steve has nearly 28 years of fund raising experience and brings to his position an understanding of the funding process, long involvement in leadership positions in the local church, and an understanding of what God is doing in and through the evangelical church today. Steve is a member of Five Oaks Evangelical Free Church, in Woodbury, MN where he attends with his wife Deb.
Brett Roehr, Vice President – Business Development & Credit Administration

Brett consults with EFCA churches and related ministries regarding their financing needs for new facilities. Brett is responsible for the development and implementation of underwriting procedures and guidelines.
Brett joined CIF in January 2004. Prior to joining us, he was Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking, at Home National Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona, from 2002 to 2003, and Vice President and Client Manager, Commercial Banking, at Bank of America in Phoenix, Arizona, from 1995 to 2002. Mr. Roehr earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Natalee Uran, Customer Service Representative
Natalee is a member of CIF's customer service team. She works with both CIF and Ministry Campaign Services (MCS). For CIF she is responsible for servicing loans to ensure that all loan information is processed in a timely and accurate manner and provides general office duties. Natalee also provides administrative support for MCS.
Natalee started at the EFCA in the Office of the President in 2000, and then transferred to the MCS team in 2004, and CIF/MCS team in 2006.
Dave Viland, Campaign Consultant
David has been involved in fund raising for over 20 years, in campaigns from $25,000 - $4.5 million, both in not-for-profit organizations and churches. One of David's passions is to see the local church vibrant in its mission as a result of healthy, biblically based leadership and governance. David first worked with MCS in 2001 and joined the staff in 2006. He has served as Church Administrator/Executive Pastor of Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fargo, ND. While there he led the church through a large capital campaign, a major building & ministry expansion program, and an operational reorganization. The campaign was officially a $3 million dollar campaign that grew to $4.5 million in the second phase.
As Senior Consultant for Ministry Campaign Services, David facilitates strategic planning sessions, provides church governance training, and conducts/teaches the DiSC and Uniquely You spiritual gifts and personality profile instruments. He has a varied background of health care management, church administration and leadership in churches from 50-2,500. Previously, David served as a Long-Term Care Administrator, working primarily with church affiliated senior care/living environments at both the campus and corporate levels. David, along with his wife Donna, is a member of Bethel Church, Fargo, ND. They have two married daughters and 5 grandchildren.
